DocNet Running Team

Interested in getting to know the best running tracks around St.Gallen or tired of running alone? Yes? Then join our DocNet Running Group! On Tuesday, 17th of September, we will have the first running group of the new semester. We meet at 19:00 at the University Sports Hall and then make our way through the nearby Rotmonten running trails. New PhDs are warmly welcome!

No registration necessary, just pop by!

We will run in two groups: A faster group with an average pace of 5:00 – 5:30 minutes per kilometer, and an unhurried group with an average pace of 6:00 – 6:30 minutes per kilometer. Hence, the running group is intended for both beginners and advanced runners. Especially beginners are very welcome! We will run at (almost) all weather conditions.

After our run, we will meet in the university Ad-Hoc bar on campus at roughly 20:00 for one (or more) beers or some non-alcoholic drinks. If you need more information, please email to Joachim Stonig ( or Florian Weigert ( We look forward to seeing you!

Design your Life - Teaser Session

Join us for Stanford’s most popular course that has arrived at the University of St. Gallen. You will apply the innovation method design thinking to your own life, gaining more clarity, making progress and designing your way forward.

It’s not easy to know what we want. Figure out what drives you and what is important to you. Based on this understanding you will design ideas for your future career and life and build prototypes to turn your thinking into action.

Join us for a teaser session on 18 September from 5pm until 6:30pm at the Design Thinking loft (Blumenbergplatz 9, above the “Meeting Point”) to get a better idea how life design has helped many other to create a meaningful life and have a few beers to enjoy the evening.

DocNet Running Dinner - Register now!

You're in for a very special treat: A three-castle hike through Germany's biggest forest, winetasting and a vineyard walk, and a visit to history-laden Hambacher Schloss are just a few of the memorable highlights we will enjoy together.

On 14th November, KUGL St.Gallen will host its first Science Slam. For that, students and scientists willing to participate are still needed. Leading House Asia Funding Oppertunities

The Leading House Asia by ETH Zurich is glad to raise your awareness about two distinctive calls under the bilateral programmes of the State Secretariat for Research, Education and Innovation (SERI).

1. Young Researchers’ Exchange Programme with South Korea

The Leading House Asia and the National Research Foundation (NRF) of the Republic of Korea jointly fund the exchange of young scientists between South Korea and Switzerland. The instrument funds 3 to 6 months research stays in the partner country. Swiss researchers can apply to ETH Zurich for a stay in South Korea and Korean researchers to NRF for a stay in Switzerland.
  • Eligibility: PhD Students, young postdocs and in exceptional cases also Master students from Swiss universities, Universities of Applied Sciences and research institutes are invited to apply. The call is open to all scientific disciplines including social sciences and humanities.
  • Funding: Grants will cover travel costs and a monthly living allowance for a research stay at a Korean university or research laboratory.
  • Deadline: 29 November 2019.

2. Innovation Partnership Grants with China, Japan, South Korea, and the ASEAN Region

Innovation partnership grants support the establishment of cooperation between Swiss researchers from universities, universities of applied sciences or public research institutes with non-academic innovation agents in China (incl. Hong Kong and Taiwan), Japan, South Korea and member states of the ASEAN. These agents can be corporates, SMEs or start-ups, innovation parks or similar entities with a focus on applied sciences or technical development.

  • Eligibility: All senior scientists of Swiss federal and cantonal universities, universities of applied sciences and universities of teachers’ education, as well as public research institutions, are eligible. The Swiss scientist is the main applicant. Innovation agent partners must be senior staff affiliated with a company, start-up, innovation park or similar agency in one of the partner countries. Universities from the partner country can participate as third parties. The call is open to all scientific disciplines including social sciences and humanities.
  • Funding: max. 20k CHF
  • Deadline: 15 November 2019.
