Pizol Hike

DocHike Säntis Breakfast

on Sunday, 12th of July, we have a very special early-bird event planned for you. We will have lunch at the summit of the Säntis – the highest mountain in the Alpstein with an altitude of over 2,500 metres. To reach the mountain, we will start at the Schwägalp and hike our way up on the direct way. During the hike, we can enjoy breathtaking views over the Swiss mountains.

We will meet at 8:00 am at the St.Gallen train station (track 2). We then travel with public transport to the Schwägalp, where we start our hike at 9:15 am. At the Säntis summit, we will enjoy lunch together. Afterwards, we use the Schwebebahn (cable car) back to the Schwägalp and drive back to St.Gallen.
Please note that it is important to bring appropriate boots and outfit, sunscreen, some energy snacks, and enough drinking water for about 3 hours of hiking.

The event requires good weather conditions and won’t take place in case of bad weather. A final notification (confirmation or cancellation of the event) will be sent to everyone who registered the day before. If you have any questions, please contact Daniel Fauser (daniel.fauser@unisg.ch).

You should be free from giddiness and be able to ascend around 400 meters in altitude per hour. Please be aware of the risks a hiking tour in the mountains can bear. DocNet is only the organizer of the tour and cannot be made responsible for personal safety.

The tickets are free of charge, however you will have to cover the lunch (DocNet pays for one drink) and the ride with the Schwebebahn (19 CHF with Halbtax/GA or CHF 38 without) yourselves.
We are looking forward to exploring the Alpstein with you!

Save the Date - 18th DocNet Symposium

Thriving in chaos – how to master adverse situations. We live in a world of increasing globalization and digitalization, characterized by constant change and uncertainty. The recent pandemic has demonstrated just how fragile the global construct has become, inflicting chaos upon each and every one of us. One thing we know for certain: it is not the first time we witness such chaos and it definitely will not be the last. Therefore, the 18th DocNet Symposium will focus on the topic of thriving in such chaotic situations.

Please SAVE THE DATE: 20. November 2020!

This year again, you have the unique opportunity to participate in the selection of speakers. Tell us by e-mail (symposium@docnet-hsg.ch) which speakers you would like to hear at the Symposium. We are looking forward to many ideas and suggestions!

When & where: Friday, 20th November 2020, @ WBZ Holzweid

Sailing on Lake Constance

Dear doctoral students

We are a small pool of doctoral students who sail regularly on Lake Constance. We would like to expand our group - both experienced sailors and beginners are welcome. To keep it simple, we have started a WhatsApp group for everyone interested. Depending on the wind we go out on the water 1-2 times a week - we will communicate the dates in the group and you can get in touch spontaneously. We will sail either on the J70 or on H-boats of the sailing school Delfino in Staad. Costs per person are about 8-10 CHF per hour. If you are interested, please contact Hannah Leimert (hannah.leimert@unisg.ch) and Max Richter (maximilianalexander.richter@unisg.ch) with your telephone number and your previous knowledge and expectations. We are looking forward to having you with us!
